If I am living on campus and selected a meal plan in StarRez Housing application at the time of my Housing application, can I make changes to that selection?

Yes, you can make changes to your meal plan selection up until the day before meals are served (see key dates). Initially, login to your StarRez Housing application to make the change. If the application has already closed, log into the Meal Plan App at https://mealplan.gatech.edu to view your meal plan. If you have changes, submit a request to our meal plan administrator. Meal Plans may NOT be changed after this one day cut-off before the first meal service date (See meal services dates posted at https://dining.gatech.edu and refer to Meal Plan Terms & Conditions for additional detail).

Can I add a Meal Pass during the semester?

Students may purchase multiple "Meal Pass" plans in a semester by visiting the meal plan page, selecting purchase, logging into transaction site and reloading prior to the published end date.  Alternatively Dining Dollars may be purchased as needed. To purchase Dining Dollars after the posted purchase end date, please submit a request.

What happens to Meal Swipes I don't use?

Unused meal swipes for the Everyday & Weekday plans expire on the last day of each semester. Unused swipes for Block plans roll over from Fall to Spring but expire at the end of the Spring for the 2022-2023 academic year. For the 2023-2024 academic year, unused meal swipes will NOT roll over from Fall to Spring and instead will expire at the end of the Fall semester. This policy revision aligns with the ability to cancel spring plans before the first meal is served without penalty (see key dates).

What is the difference between Dining Dollars and BuzzCard Funds?

Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, Dining Dollars are sales tax exempt funds that can be used at all Tech Dining locations. Dining Dollars may be purchased in increments of $50, $200, $400, and $600. Customers who deposit $400 or $600 Dining Dollars receive an additional 10% in bonus Dining Dollars. Dining Dollars roll over from summer semester to fall, from fall semester to spring. Beginning 2019-20 academic year, unused Dining Dollars (excluding bonus Dining Dollars) will be forfeit at the end of each spring semester. For more information on Dining Dollars, please refer to the Meal Plan Policy here.

BuzzCard Funds transform your BuzzCard into a personal, on-campus debit card for making purchases using pre-deposited funds. Most meal plans include BuzzCard Funds and additional deposits can be made through the BuzzCard portal. Additional information can be found here.

Who can use my meal swipes?

Meal swipes may only be used by the student who is assigned the meal plan.

Where can I use my Dining Dollars?

Dining Dollars can be used at all on-campus dining locations.  However, Dining Dollar bonuses are not accepted at food truck locations or vending machines. Dining Dollars expire at the end of each academic year (end of the spring semester).

Where can I use my BuzzCard Funds?

BuzzCard Funds can also be used to purchase food and goods and services at Buzz Around Town campus merchant locations.

Do I have to request a meal plan for each Semester?

If you are a first-year student living on campus, your current meal plan will automatically continue from fall to spring semester. You may request to switch between Everyday and Weekday during the dates noted at dining.gatech.edu. It does not continue to summer semester. Voluntary meal plans will automatically renew from the Fall to Spring semester and students must opt out of these plans if they do not wish to continue in Tech Dining’s meal plan program. Changes can be made by submitting a request. Please note that downgrade or cancellation changes made to voluntary meal plans renewing in Spring semester are subject to a 25% charge in the 2022-2023 academic year. New in 2023-2024 academic year, cancellation changes made to voluntary meal plans renewing in Spring semester are NOT subject to a fee if changed prior to the first day of meal service. Please see the meal plan policy terms & conditions.

How do I check my meal plan and Dining Dollar balance?

Dining Dollar account balances are printed on the bottom of each sales receipt. Dining Dollar and available Meal Swipes (for Meal Pass plans) are also available at buzzcard.gatech.edu (“Manage Account” option).
